Peoples Retirement Community opened its doors in 1988, thanks to the vision of Pastor Owen Shackett of Peoples Church (now called Champion Center), and his wife Betty, who saw a need for retirement living in this community. Originally designed for independent living, the community soon adapted to include assisted living as the need became apparent, gradually admitting residents requiring assistance. A few years later, the first floor, east wing was remodeled to accommodate memory care.

In the summer of 2023, Chad Solvie, CEO of Cascade Senior Living Services, acquired Peoples Senior Living to continue the mission of service and quality care.
